Stone wall repair & dry stone walling services

From a single collapsed gap in a field boundary to a full retaining wall rebuild, all work is carried out by our own wallers — no subcontracted labour and no sales agents.

Dry Stone Walling & Repair

Traditional Cotswold dry stone walling — rebuilt by hand, no mortar, with proper hearting and coping.

We take walls down to a sound foundation, sort and re-dress the existing stone, and rebuild in true courses with a battered face, through-stones and tightly packed hearting. Finished with upright combers or flat coping to match the local style. A properly rebuilt dry stone wall stands for a century without mortar.

Garden & Boundary Wall Repair

Repointing, rebuilding and coping-stone replacement for cottage garden and boundary walls.

Cracked, leaning or crumbling garden walls are usually the result of failed cement pointing or missing coping. We rake out and repoint in a breathable lime mortar, rebuild the failed sections in matching limestone, and reset or replace copings so water is thrown clear of the wall face.

Retaining Wall Rebuilding

Bulging and failing retaining walls rebuilt with correct drainage, batter and backfill.

Retaining walls fail when water builds up behind them. We excavate, install a free-draining stone backfill and land drain where needed, and rebuild with the correct batter and tie-back stones so the wall holds the bank for good rather than for a season.

Collapse & Storm Callouts

Fast response for collapsed field walls, vehicle strikes and storm damage.

A wall down across a lane or a gap in a stock-proof boundary needs sorting quickly. We make the site safe, salvage the stone and get the gap closed — usually within a few days, and we handle insurance and estate paperwork where required.

Also part of most jobs

Boundary wall rebuilding

Where a boundary wall has moved beyond repair, we take it down course by course, set out a sound foundation, and rebuild it on the same line using the original stone plus matching limestone to make up any shortfall. Rebuilt walls are set out with a proper batter so they shed water and settle inwards rather than outwards.

Repointing in lime mortar

Cotswold limestone is soft and porous. Cement pointing traps water inside the stone and blows the face off in frost. We rake out failed cement, brush the joints back and repoint in a lime mortar mixed to suit the stone and the exposure of the wall, so it can breathe again.

Coping and comber stones

The coping is what keeps water out of the core of a wall. We reset loose copings, replace broken and frost-damaged stones with matching limestone, and set upright combers where the local walling style calls for them.

Insurance and estate work

Vehicle strikes, storm damage and collapses onto lanes are regular work for us. We photograph the damage, provide itemised written estimates suitable for insurers and land agents, and make the site safe before the full repair is scheduled.
