Cotswold walling, done properly
Cotswold Stone Wall Repairs is a small team of wallers working across Gloucestershire, west Oxfordshire and the North Cotswolds. Dry stone walling, garden and boundary walls, retaining walls and collapse repairs — that is all we do.
A craft, not a product
The walls in this landscape were built without mortar, without machinery and without drawings, and the good ones are still standing centuries later. That only works if the wall is built to the same rules it always was: stone laid across the wall rather than along it, every stone bearing on two below, and the middle packed tight rather than filled with rubble.
Most of the failures we’re called to are not the original waller’s fault. They’re the result of a later repair — a cement cap, a concrete-filled core, coping stones bedded solid so water had nowhere to go. We take those out and rebuild the section as it should have been done, so the next generation isn’t looking at the same crack.
We work for homeowners, farms, estates and land agents, on everything from a three-metre gap in a paddock boundary to a full terraced garden rebuild. No job is too small to be worth doing properly.
How we work
The right stone and the right mortar
We reuse the stone already on site wherever it's sound, and match anything new to the local bed. Mortared walls are pointed in lime, never cement, so the stone can breathe.
Honest, fixed quotes
We come and look at the wall, explain what's failed and why, and put a fixed price in writing. If a repair is smaller than you feared, we'll say so.
Our own hands on the wall
The person who quotes the job is on site building it. No subcontracted crews, no call-centre bookings, no pressure to sign on the day.
